Trial of Wilder Rainthorpe Chopper at Broxa 115
Forestry Commission copyright image of Forest Research photographs courtesy of Glenn Brearley, Roslin. Nil Ref No
All the branches and tops on a pine and spruce clearfell site were run over by a Wilder Rainthorpe chopper to pulverise the material, it is assumed to ascertain how effective this method was in clearing the site for future cultivation and planting. The series of four photographs show how a site with dense brash was converted to one with a very flat surface covered in finely chopped pieces. There is no indication of the number of runs taken to achieve this. Photos by K Gabriel Nov 1969
