A series of photographs showing a Ford County Super 4 (Reg 6870SM) towing a Wilder Rainthorpe chopper through a tree harvested site in an attempt to cut down the very high piled branches and tree tops left after felling and extraction has taken place.

It looks to be a very difficult site for the relatively light weight machine and a number of passes are required to make and impression.

6870SM was owned by Buccleuch Estates, Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfries-shire for many years. My late father was a forestry tractorman on the eastate from about 1950 to 1993.
