Cuthbertson Buffalo tractor disaster

The only visible distinctive detail of this seriously bogged machine is the long pipe coming out of the water which could be the long exhaust pipe of a Buffalo tractor. The men are valiantly trying with hand tools to dig down to the draw bar of the machine through a wet sinking mass of water and peat and possibly to create a sloping ramp for the machine to be pulled out towards the harder looking ground not too far behind. The mounds of peat either side of the machine indicate how much has been dug out already. Note the two wide County tractors waiting to start the pulling operations and two men carrying some unidentifiable larger item.
