Views in Ae and Elibank Forests

Mr Ender Rudolf from Germany or Austria toured around some Forestry Commission sites in Scotland in 1954 and on his return appears to have compiled a photographic album of his visit. He must have copied some of the pages of photographs and returned at least 15 pages to Scotland.
Three pages are shown with nine photographs covering cultivation in either the Forests of Ae or Elibank. This image shows a very different site with shallow soils over broken shale or schist ploughed at regular spacing for planting along the furrow and it most likely Elibank Forest. These are almost perfect conditions for larch and if sheltered enough, Douglas fir.
