Views of Leanachan Forest Moor — Lon Lianach

Mr Ender Rudolf from Germany or Austria toured around some Forestry Commission sites in Scotland in 1954 and on his return appears to have compiled a photographic album of his visit. He must have copied some of the pages of photographs and returned at least 15 pages to Scotland. The page shows images of a forest storage yard, a forest and also across Loch Eil from the Fort William railway station.
This view of a road with telegraph poles is thought to be somewhere on the minor public road to Lianachan Holdings under the railway bridge at Unachan. The forest plantings on the right hand side were all burnt in a large fire in the late 1940s and by the look of the site has been relatively recently replanted. The Ben Nevis range of mountains can just be made out in the back ground with perhaps a hint of the British Aluminium Company’s puggy line going across the face.
The PDF shows a view form Fort William station up the loch to the village of Caol.
