General view of deepened drain on round and round ploughing. Deepened drain is 11 feet from the nearest shallow furrow drain on either side. Plants kept back 5 foot from drain centre leaving 10 foot alley aimed at allowing mechanical maintenance of these drains spaced at 38 feet. Similar spacing was used on cross drains for the same purpose.
