Explosives to make drain at Newcastleton Forest

A demonstration by Messers ICI to Conservator South (S) at Newcastleton Forest. Trial No 1in the windblown area (Expt 15 P52). The explosion on hard ground with 0.5lb charges of gelignite spaced at 2.5feet over 30 yds and 1 foot deep. Drains created at depth of 3.5 – 5 feet and 6-8 feet wide with ragged edges.
