Water Buffalo and Draining plough demonstration

Cuthbertson Buffalo tractor and draining plough with wheel extensions crossing some difficult looking peat next to what could have been a place where a machine had been debogged. Tracks look very lightweight and may have been the first type tried out which were said to have steel cables and rubber pads as part of their construction.
The hydraulic ram is a very innovative way to operate the plough lifting rope without the need for a heavy winch on the rear of the tractor. No date noted on the photographs but could be prior to 1950. Can anyone provide some information about the early use of hydraulic rams prior to 1950 to lift ploughs? Was this the first?
