Grants Standfast Plough at Tiendland Forest

This photograph of the 2nd model 1928 experimental Grant’s Craigellachie Standfast plough which was successfully used to plough many forest research sites in the early 1930s. This heavy weight horse plough well polished from recent use was normally pulled by three horses. On looking closely this is a different plough from that featured in the 1930 photograph, one of the main differences being the cross bracing between the two shafts.
This particular plough was apparently used to plough the Forest Research experiments in Tiendland 1928-32, Calshindarroch Expt Nos 5, 6 and 7 in P31, Glenrigh Expt 14 and Inchnacardoch? Expt Nos 69, 81 and 82 in 1928-1930.
The attached PDF shows the plough from different view points and also some recent complete ploughing in the back ground. Note the plough name can just be made out on the beam of the upside down plough.
