Grant’s Standfast Plough at Tiendland Forest

This early photograph of the experimental Grant’s Craigellachie Standfast plough which was successfully used to plough many forest research sites in the early 1930s. This heavy weight horse plough was normally pulled by three horses.
Features of interest include the heavy beam, the front depth wheel which is also a disc coulter which aids the separate knife coulter behind, the outrigged side wheel to reduce side tipping and the deep share and mould board.
