Deep mounted tine plough for felled woodland
Photograph and papers courtesy of Jim Christie, Crook of Devon.
New mounted large single furrow tine plough (S60/T90/m) which could plough down to 60cms and tine down a further 30cms beyond that. This plough was designed to work on the drier sites of felled woodlands and capable of smashing its way through or over turning tree stumps.
It was then superseded by a double mouldboard version in a few years time and in the course of events this also gave way to the mounding machines. The plough was fitted to a large tractor typically a D7 one of which was operated by Archie Clyne who hailed from around the Inverness area. Can anyone confirm his home location?
The machine specification is in the attached PDF which also shows the back of the photograph originally held by Bill Anderson, Plant and Transport Manager for FC Scotland, based at Chaplehall Workshops, Airdrie.
Any stories of working with this machine and names of other operators would be very welcome.
