Keil Camp, Fuinary, Lochaline, Morvern
This old forestry camp in Fuinary Forest used to be a WWII refugee camp. The site is scheduled for redevelopment and these buildings will be destroyed soon.
Anyone got any old photos of it as a working site? Or memories of having worked there?

A polish(i think) worker lived in the house on this site for some time after the war. When i moved to the area(1993) the local ganger Neil McKechnie was full of information on when the house was occupied and by whom.

When I was a child and a teenager there were three world war two refugees living here and working in the forestry commision. One lived to quite old, his name was Nicolai, I'm not sure but I believe he was from the Ukraine. One of the other two was known as "Jigger".

My father Ian Morrison was forester here from 1952 to 1959. I remember the three refuges very well the other one was called Starnetz (not sure if this is spelt correctly). My memories of going to the camp are very happy ones. My father who is now 94 also thinks they came from Ukraine but is too far back for him to remember!
