Report No 19 - Haytor Grass Cutter
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Report No19 refers to trial of grass and shrub cutting machine mounted on the three point linkage of a tractor as well as some comparison against other mechanical means of cutting grass in forest conditions. On this particular model in the photograph the actual cutting teeth on the spinning plates appears to be those from the cutting bars of reapers, grass, hay and grain harvesters.
The trial proved to be very successful in reasonably smooth conditions and most probably helped lead to further far reaching developments by the Hayter Company.
