Timber harvesting operations — Strathyre For

A series of photographs where two men are seen working with a Timberjack Skidder dragging loads of whole trees to roadside then possibly cutting off the large log material at the first stopping point then pulling forward to the pulp wood stack and cross cutting the smaller stems there. The year has been judged from the number plate of the Forestry Commission van with fire brooms tied on top HYP449? (last year letter is indistinct but likely to be N suffix and therefore registered in 1974/75).
In this photograph they have seem to have started cross cutting off the saw logs and a Husqvarna saw can be seen jammed in one of the tree lengths in the drag and the skidder driver may be moving forward to release the blade.
The next three images in the PDF show the saw released and then next the cross cutter and skidder operator (no helmet) cutting all the logs at their points next to the rope slings to release the drag from the skidder winch ropes. Rope slings are more easily detached from the short cut off points once the tractor has then pulled forward.
