An iconic Scots pine but where?

Photograph taken by Don MacCaskill and image courtesy of Bridget MacCaskill, Strathyre. Don was based as Head Forester at Inverinan from about 1960 through to about 1968 before transferring initially to Allean Forest and then Strathyre Forest in1972.

Can anyone identify this iconic Scots pine and its location in this photograph taken circa 1970s? If you look on the large image you will see a pylon line running up the glen in the back ground and also a public road is just visible coming towards the tree and then veering out of site quite far behind the knoll the Scots pine is standing on.

Who will the first to identify this site and provide a photograph taken this decade from the same location replicating this image?

I was a Ranger in the Tummel / Rannoch areas but left in 1974. Don Macaskill was my boss then ( Chief Forester). The peak in the distance is almost certainly Scheihallion looking directly toward its North face and so this photo must have been taken from the top of Drumcroy hill / the Big wood near to Trinafour. The pylons are in the dip near to Dunalistair water and the road will be B847 Trinafour to Kinloch Rannoch road Comment left on 22 February 2021 at 19:50 by Ray Thomson
