Inverinan Forest Nursery circa 1963
Photograph taken by Don MacCaskill and image courtesy of Bridget MacCaskill, Strathyre. Don was based as Head Forester at Inverinan from about 1960 through to 1968 before transferring initially to Allean Forest and then Strathyre Forest in 1972.
No information was attached to the photograph but with help from Duncan MacDougall, this has been identified as Inverinan Forest Nursery. Duncan says ‘I think that this could be the Eredine squad in Inverinan nursery as they filled in at times because their nursery closed before ours’.
Here an unidentified lady is in one of the board filling stations part way through filling a lining out board with Sitka spruce seedlings. The boards do have marker notches on them but the fixed filling root board has very definite notches and may be at a more up to date spacing than those originally made on the lining out boards.
Can anyone name the lady and the row of houses seen in the distance above the hessian edge?
