Part of the Huntly team taking a break from chemical spraying operations to control heather growth on the top of Balloch Forest most likely using a compound with 2.4D. The area was a later planting as a result of seeking more planting ground further ‘up the hill’ and the trees suffered from severe nutrient deficiencies partially brought on by the strong heather growth.

The team standing by a small wet weather shelter from the left are:
John Strachan
Roy Neish
Dave Elgie (Forester)
Jimmy Christie
Johnny White

The red suits were special material developed for chemical spraying and were washed after several uses. The blue ‘McBean Tranatlantic’ water proof suit was not really that suitable for chemical spraying and designed for protection from the rain.
