Rimsdale Forest, Naver Pine Beauty Defoliation

Copy of a photograph taken by George from a high view point looking over Rimsdale Forest down towards Loch Rimsdale. The older forest crop mainly Lodgepole pine planted in the late 50s and early 60s is clearly suffering from a severe attack of Pine Beauty larvae and the trees are turning brown prior to dying in this 1976 photograph.
The green patches in the middle are some research plots of different species and were at the time untouched. The author was told in confidence that the plots were actually hand sprayed with insecticide to protect them.
There are 1970 plantings on right back and front.
