Planting with mattock

The location and year of this photograph are unknown but it shows a very stony area which has been shallow ploughed and the team of men are using the mattock to plant trees (broadleaves) into the bottom of the furrow where perhaps there might be some more moisture. The ploughing would give some weed protection for a few years.
