Picture courtesy of Gordon Thom retired Ganger. Photograph taken about 1935 but could be a year or two earlier or later. Gordon only knows some of the people as follows 1. Johnston Edwards, Forester leaving Clashindarroch; 2.Andrew Strachan, Ganger; 3.Sandy Coull, Ganger; 4.J Fettes from Baillies Ward; 5.Geordie Young from Mytice, Trapper turned Tractor Driver; 6.Alex Walker, Tillythrowie; 7. (face above the number)Henry Dow, grandfather of Tom and Ricky Dow currently working FC Harvesters; 8.Mr Milne? Assistant Forester; 9.James Thom (just in sight)father of Gordon Thom.
Any more information on these and the other unnamed people?

Johnston Edwards became Head Forester at Thirlmere resevoir in Cumberland. There are references to him in Ian Tyler's book on the subject.

I was a student working under Forester Edwards at Thilmere in 1949. I remember a wonderful man, an expert forester and a great mentor.
