Tim Taylor’s Retirement

Graham Gill, Forest District Manager at Culloden Forest District, in the process of handing over presentation gifts to Tim Taylor on his retirement form the Forestry Commission. Tim had been Chief Forester at the combined Torrachilty Forest for a number of years and under the new Forest District structure took over the role as District Forester in the district’s harvesting programme. He had a short spell as interim Forest District Manger pending Graham Gill’s arrival from the south.
Any more information on Tim Taylor’s forestry career would be very welcome and his wife's name please.

Prior to becoming Chief Forester at Torrachilty, Tim was Head Forester at Bettyhill and lived for a time in the new 'Foresters House' that was built up on the headland. Tales of moving the 'ash bucket' and disposing of the ashes from the fire, according to which way the wind was blowing were legion. The tale that caused the greatest hilarity was always the toilet that became a bidet or worse (!), when the wind pressure differentials over the top of the vent stack caused the water level in the pan to rise and fall to extreme! A'fore going to Bettyhill, I think Tim was at Rattagan.
Certainly, one of Tim's claims was that he had spent on average 18 months in each forest, before he arrived at Torrachilty! Comment left on 25 March 2013 at 11:08 by Bill Rayner
