This is a two day visit to forestry areas in northern Sutherland and Caithness no doubt arising from the growing discussions and wildlife organisations’ concerns on continued large scale planting in the ‘Flow Country’.

The second stop is at Strathy Forest, just south of Strathy on the North Coast of Caithness. This established forest was the base for a large number of Forest Research experiments in nutrition and planting with mixed species. Here Walter Paterson (Head Forester Research in Caithness and Sutherland) is assisting John Keenleyside (Chief Forester Research North Scotland) in explaining a point about an experiment.
