Loading Ferguson’s lorry

Loading Ferguson’s lorry

Date Added: 17 March 2013 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1986 Picture No: 1744

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many of those are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.

No location or other details are given for this photograph or the others in the attached PDF which shows a Ferguson Volvo Lorry SBG619T being loaded by Volvo KLV33R which looks to be an independent loader. The pine logs would indicate that this is likely to be the eastern side of the distrcict. Not the well loaded lorry in the final photograph in PDF

Faces are difficult to see but someone may know who generally drove those vehicles.

Grant MacIntosh (Inverinate) enquired at Ferguson's transport and was able to get details: Alasdair Ferguson is loading the lorry and Ronnie Carter is the driver - the location being Culbin Forest.

Our timber was moved by Ferguson in the Culbin. Alasdair was said to be only sixteen at the time classing the independent as a tractor. He could shift some timber no problem. Comment left on 03 October 2021 at 19:53 by George Barclay
