Members of the Royal Scottish Forestry Society on a tour around the Morayshire area have dropped into Buckie Shipyard Ltd at that time owned by James Jones and Sons Larbert.

Here a craftsman is using the adze to chamfer a large bulk of timber through the great skill of handling the tool and by eye along a marked line. Real skill to work this tool safely and accurately to produce the required dimensions. Can anyone name the craftsman?

The attached PDF shows more clearly the shear volume of timber used in a vessel in its frames, its hull covering and even in the timber dowels used to hold the planking on.
