Bruunett at Farr, Culloden Forest District

A small version of the Bruunett (often called a Mini Bruun) taking its single bunk load of pulpwood out from a compartment in the forest at Farr. Willie Patience the Harvesting Forester looks on. One of the drivers in that area was called Colin Croy? Can anyone confirm his name?

These machines were the first of the more environmentally friendly forwarders featuring the 8 wheel configuration and lighter footprint. They were able to cope with quite peaty conditions providing an adequate brash mat was secured from the surrounding crop.

I could not tell you for definite if this is Colin Croy, but I worked with Colin on a number of new forestry roads and Colin was the best I ever saw on these machines.

My father Jimmy Borthwick drove forwarders with Billy Cameron and Colin Croy and definitely in and around Farr forest. My father was on a Valmet but would operate anything. Comment left on 28 September 2016 at 18:12 by George Borthwick

George Dey was a lovely man. I met him briefly when I worked in forestry in Argyll. He had written to the district office in Lochgilphead wanting to visit places he knew up near Dalavich. I was on holiday the following week and arranged to go out with him to see these places. Enjoyed his company and his knowledge of the area immensely.
