John Martin’s Helicopter Bucket Trial
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
This photograph is a follow on from the action in the previous Picture No 1719 . The filled bucket is dropped near the firemen and they are now adding some fire foam concentrate from the black drum. They are also attaching a fire hose to the hose attachment on the bottom of the bucket. The follow on dramatic images shows the helicopter and bucket high in the air with fire hose dangling down to the ground where two firemen have attached a fire foam producing basket nozzle and are spraying a line of foam on the ground.
It looks very impressive and lots of foam produced but may be a bit unwieldy and limited in among trees and bushes. Any thoughts?
