John Martin’s Helicopter Bucket Trial

No information with this series of images other than the title. This first image shows John Martin with one of two aluminium water buckets. John Martin was the North Conservancy Mechanical Engineer and may have designed and had the bucket fabricated locally.
The first images in the PDF show the bottom of the bucket which appears to have a load dump lever fixed to a large central valve. Perhaps the valve is designed to open and fill the bucket when dropped into water? The other significant point is the outlet also on the bottom to which a fire service hose can be attached.
The follow on photographs show the second bucket, two PLM helicopters rendezvousing with the fire service, John Martin and possibly the local farmer on whose ground the exercise is being conducted on. The shots thereafter are of the helicopter picking up the buckets and filling them in a loch and taking them back to a group of firemen. The next picture number shows the follow up action.
