Grant Macintosh (Inverinate) recalls the Willie Nicholson (Chief Forester) moved from Skye to take over the Black Isle Forest and the attached Nursery. Willie would be retiring just prior to the complete change of the Forest and District structure to the large Forest District units where Forest District Managers were in charge.

Bob Cathie can be seen on the right and Grant believes it could be Finlay MacRae’s wife Joey on the right but not certain. Can anyone confirm?

Frank Thom (Huntly) recalls his father telling him that Willie was in Rumster Forest in its very early stages and may even have started the first plantings there around 1950. Apparently polio had affected his walking somewhat at that time and this was one of the less hilly forests which may have made it easier for him to walk around.
