Ploughing with a Caterpillar D4 and double furrow plough on peat ground high above Eynort. The tractor Registration is GFS 127T and FC number is 76941. Jocky Banks the driver is stopped and speaking to Davie Robertson (Chief Forester – Skye) who is carrying a pocket radio on his back, the aerial of which is just above his shoulder (days before mobile phones!).
The double furrow head has been developed over the years into this model with quite small body and small board feathers. This plough and beam outfit was termed as a D60/-/t which translated into double furrow depth to 60cms/ nil tine/ trailed. The cage wheels for extra flotation generally gave way to double tyres over time also.
