Tractor and Plough in Skye FC 71958?

Tractor and Plough in Skye FC 71958?

Date Added: 01 March 2013 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1981 Picture No: 1641

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.

Unfortunately the location, the driver and the registration number of this machine are not known. It appears to be a different machine from that registered as VHM400M and the FC number is partially oblitereated. Note also hydraulic winch mounted on the front.

Can anyone say what this type of tractor and tractor conversion or know who is the driver?

This tractor is an International TD8B converted to low ground pressure by the fitment of T T Boughton final drives with longer and wider tracks. The conversion work was carried out at Chapelhall Workshop and the tractor was then known as the CEW 70. ( CEW
stood for Central Engineering Workshops and 70 was the horse power of the engine.)
The FC number was FC 71958 and the registration number was OYH 896R.
