Fire service personnel using all available water to fight a roadside fire threatening a young forest. Local and main fire service units were critical in assisting forestry staff in fighting many fires. They turned out hundreds of times to deal with mountain and forest fires, in fact anywhere where property was threatened. A great many were volunteers and through their skill, hard work and dedication many 1000s of acres of threatened forests were saved over the years.
