Alec Smellie was the Forester in charge at Cumbernauld Forest which covered quite a wide area and number of separate plantations. William remembers that Alec came from Knapdale on the west coast and at first hated the Cumbernauld Forest location with all its mining slag heaps. However the results of his work have now quite a difference to the locality. The man second man is Tam McCracken who was the forest Foreman.
