Strathyre Forest nursery workers

William spent two years on a Forestry Commission apprentice scheme in Strathyre Forest living in the hostel with about 16 other young lads who worked along side the local longer term forest workers.
On a work break in the nursery are - from the left - James Stuart, Gregor Aitchison and James Waddell.
The major part of the work in these smaller nurseries was seasonal and most of the lads would have worked out in the forest at other times of the year leaving a caretaker squad at the nursery to keep everything ship shape.
