Strathyre Forest Hostel lads

William spent two years on a Forestry Commission apprentice scheme in Strathyre Forest living in the hostel with about 16 other young lads.
Shown here are his forestry colleagues Ian Robertson (from Aberfoyle with catapult), Rae (Ray) Brown, and Norman Crowe (Sitting). William recalls that Ray and Norman came from the Tighnabruich area and that Ray went to the Benmore Forester Training School and trained as a Forester. Norman Crowe went on to join the police force in Glasgow.
