Cross draining Plough and tractor
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
Humpy cross draining plough is hitched up behind an International TD8 tractor. Location is not known. The registration of the tractor is RJD983R but the FC Number is fairly obscure but could be FC73659 or FC73559.
Does anyone know this tractor driver and the ploughing location?

This looks familiar, I think that it is in Torrachilty Forest in the Glensgaich (Gleann Sgathaich) acquisition on the slopes to the east of Cnoc na Gearraisich below Ben Wyvis and above the crofting grounds of the Bottacks, Heights of Achterneed and the Heights of Keppoch. Iain Balloch (Beauly), Bob ? (Muir of Ord), latterly on the Smalley digger, would have been ploughmen working for Davie Waugh (Ploughing Forester), Church Street Office, Inverness, at the time. When I went to Torrachilty in November 1981 the 'Pottiputki' ALP seedlings planted in this area were already being frost heaved out of the peat and the QSS weren't happy! This would have been a fine wee site visit for George from the office in Hill Street, Dingwall.
