I remember this when it happened as my father Innes Macleod who was based in the Shin Forest was asked to help at the weekend to see if they could get it out. Does anybody have any photos of him or of my grandfather Roddy Macleod who also worked in the Shin forest or any other photos of the Shin Area?

Ann,
I was very fortunate to have have worked with both your father and grandfather Roddy during a period when Shin was expanding fast and at one time over 50 people in the squad. I arrived as a forester in 1979 and Roddy was a ganger in charge of one of the large planting squads and Innes was ploughing with his partner Alastair Mathieson (Star). Both were great people and I do have the very best of memories of working with them. Much to my great disappointment I did not take many work photographs in those days but believe the actual photographs of the bogging may have been taken by Charlie MacNeil from Achany. I did try to email you direct but could not get through and you are welcome to email me if you wish further details. Comment left on 28 June 2008 at 11:20 by Norman Davidson
