Glen Brittle Forest timber on lorries

Glen Brittle Forest timber on lorries

Date Added: 25 January 2013 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1980 Picture No: 1492

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.

A spectacular photographic backdrop of Coire na Creiche and the Cuillin overlooking the lorry as it wends it way along road leaving Glen Brittle Forest carrying pulp wood most likely for Fort William.

The Volvo lorry KAS68P has the initials EM on the front but possibly reads as Ewan Macrae on the side with a location not identified. Can anyone clarify this?

The PDF shows another but smaller F85 Volvo lorry NST472J in the same location but only carrying two bays of pulp wood.

This was a Volvo F86 owned by MR Ewen MacRae Crossal, If Given time I can probably find out who might have been driving it. Comment left on 27 January 2013 at 20:24 by Peter Mackinnon
Fantastic photo. My dad (Alistair Henderson) drove for Ewen Macrae during the time the picture was taken. Not him though going by the silhouette of the driver. This was the firm's first artic and was Murdo Gillies (Boofie) from Staffin's lorry so fair chance it's him at the wheel. Comment left on 07 August 2016 at 17:31 by David Henderson
