Another lovely view of the rigging wires and also an extra item on the skyline to restrain the carriage from running away down hill when load is dropped at the road edge and the haul in line slackened to unhitch the trees. The arrestor plate is obvious anchored by a chain to a point near the top of the tower and is hooked into the carriage thereby holding it from sliding down hill with the log is being unhitched from the slack haul in line. Note the light rope hanging down from the arrestor plate which will unlock the carriage from the plate and allow it to run down hill for the next load. Very often on the previous cable cranes, arrestor plates were required to stop the carriage at the choker man when working in down hill racks to allow him to more easily pull out the haul in rope and hitch onto the load.
