Great shot of the pulley or block which guides the haul back cable from the winch on its route up a cleared rack to the top spar tree and back down the working rack to the rear of the skyline carriage. The haul back cable is therefore slightly over twice the length of the maximum rack being worked. The capacity of the winch drum was limited and in order to load the 650 metres of haul back wire rope the diameter was reduced to 6 mm where as the haul in rope which only went the length of the rack way was 7 mm. Note the nylon rope sling tied around the stem of the tree and attached to the pulley with a pin held captive by a spring clip pin through its other end.
