Harvesting Machinery demo Black Isle
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
This sequence of photographs show a variety of harvesting machinery gathered together in the Black Isle Forest as a demonstration for visiting foresters and harvesting managers.
This Timberjack 2300 skidder has a buncher/gatherer head which has the capacity to pick individual trees into a neat bundle and drag them to a roadside conversion point.
The PDF shows more views of the machine Reg No KYU791P. Does anyone know the history of this machine? The additional views show the Timberjack bringing the load onto cross bearers beside a Valmet forwarder fitted with a saw beside its hydraulic grab. The last view is of the Timberjack using its front blade to push back the butt ends of the trees until they are all flush to facilitate more accurate cross cutting by the Valmet.
