The man standing on top of the heap of pulp wood is thought to be the operator of the Falstone skidder tractor in the previous image. Can anyone name the man and confirm if he was the tractor operator?

Interesting to see him holding a ‘Pickeroon’ with which he can stick into and lift the ends of the pulp wood. He is wearing a chainsaw belt which has a tape measure hooked on and it is possible that he is the person who cross cuts the trees as they are brought to roadside and stacks the cut products.

Jimmy Strachan is his name and he was the machine operator. It's quite possible he was also doing the cross cutting while the chokerman pulled the wire back out for the next log. Comment left on 10 July 2015 at 14:51 by Chris MacDonald
