Falstone tractor and winch South Strome
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
The location of the site is unknown but the slide is annotated as South Strome. The tractor is a Ford County 764 or 754, Reg LYP126P and appears to have a double drum Igland type winch fitted on the back.
Does anyone recognise this machine and the location where it is working? The following image may show the operator.

I note the lack of chains requiring tractor skills involving drive, position, winch. Skills lost with the go anywhere 8 + wheelers available today.. Proud to retain the older methods which stil work on certain sites, horse for courses!!

Definitely a 764 as the larger more-forward exhaust is distinctive to these FORD 6600 based machines as opposed to the Ford 5000 based 754.
