Driver on County tractor
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
This tractor and operator appears to be the same as in the double mouldboard ploughing scene thought to be at Ardbrecknish. Duncan Macdougall, Inverinan, has identified the driver as Archie McFadyen who was a tractor operator based at Eredine Forest.
Unfortunately there is no FC Number to be seen on this machine. With no protective cab in those days it was a long cold sit in wet wind weather. Tractor drivers were issued with wet weather clothing (waterproof but not warm) at that time and expected to work in all weathers.
Any more information on any of the above would be welcome.
