Inverliever — axe laying in by Len Stewart
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site.
George records in his diary taking some photographs of felling, brashing and rafting in 1956 and this fits in with date on one of his slides. Len and his son Tommy may have had the felling contract and here Len is ‘laying in’ the trees in preparation for Tommy to fell with the chainsaw. It looks like a 6lb Scotch Wedge axe that is making the chips fly - can anyone confirm?
