Caterpillar Tractor and Plough

Date Added: 10 November 2012 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1953 Picture No: 1304

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site.

The FC tractor and plough are in an unknown location but appear to be the same machine as shown bogged in Fetteresso Forest in Photograph Record No 1299. The FC number may read as S1371.

Can anyone identify the Caterpillar model number and likely drivers?

The tractor is a Caterpillar D4 7U series from the early 1950's. Equipped with a Hyster D4 Towing Winch. I would agree that the F.C. No. is 1371.
In 1962, we had Bob Budge driving his identical Cat D4, F.C. No. 1374 in Perthshire. I have several photos of it that I will forward soon. Comment left on 08 December 2012 at 22:39 by Ian Cameron of Abergairn, Ballater.

Bob Budge was my uncle, it would be great to see some photos of him and his rig posted.
