Dunecht Loch filled with Pine Logs
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site.
Following the 1953 gale in which whole forests and stands were blown over or broken, Dunecht Loch appears to have been used to store pine logs in water to prevent blue stain and log degradation until such time the saw mills could catch up with production and sales. The next series of photographs in the PDF shows the sawn pine being examined by a group of forestry people after 8 months immersion.
