Ploughing team bogged down in Fetteresso

Ploughing team bogged down in Fetteresso

Date Added: 08 November 2012 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1953 Picture No: 1299

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site.

The ploughing team in Fetteresso forest are in a spot of bother as one of the tractors, the caterpillar, appears to be bogged and the other, the International, is struggling to get out of a soft peat area. There may even be a third tractor away to the left in front of the plough but that is not clear. A knotted winch rope can be seen in the peat on this side of the Caterpillar.

Can anyone name the tractor driver and the actual tractor types?

The red tractor is an International TD9, the driver could be a young Jim Connell, the other tractor is a very obvious Caterpillar D4. Comment left on 08 November 2012 at 13:28 by Ian Cameron of Abergairn, Ballater.
