Sandside Plantations — Strathy Forest

Two small blocks acquired from Sandside Estate near Reay appear to have been planted when parts of Dalangwell were being completed. The sequence of compartment numbers are intertwined with that of Dalangwell and show the process of allocating the numbers as the planting seasons progressed. The tree species are in many ways similar to Dalangwell plantation with perhaps the area to the south of Sandside house which has been annotated as planted with SS/NF/Syc (Sitka spruce/Noble fir/Sycamore) in 1957 in the percentage proportions of 65/25/10.
