John keenleyside recalls ‘ Following the 1953 gale which did affect some forests in the west, the clear up operations in South Strome Forest took quite some time to finish, possibly as late as 1957. The Research areas in the north at that time were run from Lairg and Fort Augustus and the dividing line between the last two territories was Loch Carron. I had been looking over some early Research experiments in restocking in the Loch Carron area and may have been accompanied either by J W Zehetmayr or Stewart from Research Head Office. The two men on the slip way could be either of these two gentlemen and a forester (Angus MacDonald?) awaiting the trip across to the South Strome Forest.’
