A new humpy draining plough pulled by two Track Marshall tractors the front one driven by Donnie Junor from the Blackisle. The team pulled the plough (up to 1.0m deep)across already ploughed ground to drain away the running and trapped water in the furrows. Later versions of the Humpy Plough had a tilting head which allowed the nose of the plogh to tilt up and lift itself to the surface as it was pulled forward. In this version in soft ground if the lifting rams were used the weight of the whole plough on the double wheels would often push the wheels down out of sight. The only hope was to try to end the drain on some harder ground.
